Powell lens is a Laser Line Generator Lens, which optimally forms a straight line with good optical density and better stability after the laser beam passes through. It can also remove the central hotspot of the Gaussian beam.
The top of a Powell lens is a complex two-dimensional aspheric surface. As the laser passes through, it introduces massive spherical aberration, redistributes the light path, reduces light in the central area, increases edge light, and forms an even straight line.
It is suitable for various biomedical, automotive assembly, food processing and other machine vision applications.
In design:
Small angle Powell lenses use optical glass with refractive index n=1.5 (common glasses: H-K9L, JGS1).
Large angle Powell lenses use high refractive index optical glass with n=1.8 (common glass: H-ZF7LA).
Powell lenses are available with angles from 2° to 110°, the standard diameter is 9mm, and other sizes can be customized. Rectangular shape Powell lenses can also be designed and manufactured.
